Hand Building and Wheel Classes for Small Groups
Pottery classes are designed to give individual attention to each student as we explore the many possibilities of creating with clay. This is great for parents and children to take together, for Girl Scout badge requirements and for Holiday theme projects. Class size is limited.
There are many different times and types of pottery classes offered at Cely’s House. Select from the following classes or call to set up a new class.
Classes run only during the school year. For art class information during summer months, learn about our Summer Camps.
Weekday Adult Pottery Class
Experienced or beginner potters are welcome for adults and youth.
Wednesday and Friday mornings will be open for adult pottery classes:
- Wednesday morning (throwing on the potter’s wheel) (9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.)
- Friday morning (hand building with stoneware) (9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.)
- Friday night (Parent ⁄ Child class) (7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.)
The fee is $20.00 each day with instructor or $10.00 each day for independent work. When Parent and Child, the fee is $30 together. Material cost will be added to fee.

Parent ⁄ Child Workshops
An ongoing mother ⁄ daughter, parent ⁄ child class is offered on Friday nights. We will do special art work where parents can work together with their children. Two sessions per month works best and new groups are being formed and scheduled often.
Do something fun with your child !
Create a neighborhood or friends or even an extended family class to make seasonal decorations and gifts. The fee is $15.00 per person per session in a group up to 10 people.

Saturday Pottery Workshops
Saturday workshops are project-based classes. We will work from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon on one larger piece followed by a glazing class held on a future Saturday at the same times. Workshops will be scheduled for groups of 6 - 8.
A charge of $50.00 per person covers instruction, materials, and firing for both sessions. Additional time
used for making and glazing larger projects will be charged at $10.00 per hour per person,
plus a small material fee depending on the project.

Girl Scout Troop Workshops
One of the most popular pottery classes offered at Cely’s House is a two session class
geared especially for Girl Scout Troops. We will focus discussion and projects to
fulfill the pottery badge requirements. Girls will learn about the different methods
of working with clay and make simple pieces using either pinch, coil, or slabs.
Class times will be offered during regular meeting nights. Two sessions
are needed to complete a piece and also to experience glazing.
A fee of $25.00 per person covers both sessions and includes
materials and firing. Cub Scouts are also welcome to come.
